普通の家

新興住宅街に建つ住宅である。
区画された敷地に際立った特徴があるわけではなく、
周りの住宅の大半がハウスメーカーによって建てられている。
このような状況に出くわすと、現実を否応なく意識させられる。
多くの人は住宅に特別なものを望んでいるわけではなく、
「普通」の敷地に「普通」の住宅を建てること求めているのではないか、と。
この社会状況の中で建築家はどのように振る舞えば良いのか。
私なりの答えがこの住宅に込められている。
外部は、シンプルなヴォリュームに既製サッシをレイアウトしたものとしている。
特別な素材や特注サッシを使わないことは、コストを抑えるという側面もあるが、
周囲の環境にこの住宅を馴染ませるためという意味合いもある。
但しプロポーションや窓の配置などは慎重に検討し決定している。
結果として周囲と馴染みながらも、この住宅にしかない特別な感覚を外観に与えることができたと思う。
外部のシンプルさとは異なり、内部では生活の豊かさを実現するため様々な試みを行っている。
「普通」の感覚をベースとし、そこに建築家しか持ちえない感覚を加味し、
良質な住宅を作ること。
それが、現代社会における建築家の信頼につながり、建築家の活動する場所を広げることになるのではないだろうか。
This is a house which is built in new residential area.
The area has no special character and most of the houses are built by house builders.
When I face to a situation like this, whether I like it or not, I am made to think about it.
My question is... "Do most of people want to have nothing special, just an ordinary house in an ordinary land?
My answer is in this house. As an architect this is my solution to a social situation like this.
Externally the house appears as a simple volume with prefabricated windows.
This means that this house does not too stand out from all the other houses, and also the cost is kept low by avoiding the use of made to order windows and materials.
But I carefully designed the proportion and layout of the windows.
As a result, I think I managed to give a special effect to the exterior of this house but still merge it into the surrounding area.
Although the exterior is simple, inside the house I wanted to included lots of things to enrich the lifestyle of those that will live in it..
To design a good quality house based on "the ordinary", but with the added sense that only architect could have, shows the architects role in modern society and also helps expand the field where architects can be active.
